AC Infinity Spectron 7: AI-Powered Grow Camera 4K with Thermal Imaging and Under-Canopy Vision
The AC Infinity Spectron 7 is the modern way to monitor your plants from anywhere, with both a live-feed camera monitoring the leaves of your plant with thermal vision and climate sensors for VPD tracking, and a second under-canopy camera that helps inform the AI analysis and insight report to keep your information as accurate and up-to-date as possible.
Why the Spectron 7?
The Spectron 7 is an AI-powered monitoring camera designed for grow tents. It mounts on a tent pole, connects to the AC Infinity app over Wi-Fi, and lets you watch, record and review your grow from your phone, wherever you are.
It sits above the Spectron 3 in AC Infinity's camera range. The Spectron 3 covers 4K stills, timelapse and AI health insights. The Spectron 7 adds three things on top: thermal imaging, an under-canopy support camera, and climate sensors for VPD tracking.
Key Features
4K main camera with timelapse. The main unit captures 4K 8 Megapixel images and videos, so you can zoom in on leaves and build detailed timelapses across a full cycle. Timelapse recording needs a microSD card, which isn't included, but you can buy one cheaply online.
Under-canopy support camera. A second, corded camera sits low in the tent and takes images from beneath the leaves. This is the view a standard grow camera can't give you, and it feeds the AI more data to work with.
Thermal imaging. An infrared thermal sensor reads leaf temperature across the canopy. Hot spots can point to light stress, poor airflow or plants struggling to transpire, often before you see visible symptoms.
True VPD tracking. Vapour pressure deficit depends on leaf temperature, not just air temperature. Because the Spectron 7 measures both, it can calculate VPD more accurately than an air-only sensor.
AI health and growth insights. The app tracks plant stage and growth rate over time, and alerts you to signs of stress, pests, mould or mildew. It also suggests adjustments to watering, feeding and care.
Plant-safe night vision. 940nm infrared lets you check on your plants during the dark period without any visible light leaking into the tent. Range is up to 10m.
Built for tent conditions. The housing is IP65 weatherproof, and dual-joint clamps fit any standard tent pole.
Who is it for?
- Growers who travel or work long hours and want real alerts instead of just a live feed
- Anyone already using an AC Infinity controller who wants to automate more
- Growers who've lost plants to mould or pests hidden under the canopy
- Data-minded growers who want to dial in VPD properly
If you just want a basic camera to watch your plants grow, the Spectron 3 will do the job for less.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need an AC Infinity controller to use the Spectron 7?
No. The Spectron 7 works on its own straight out of the box, connecting to the AC Infinity app over Wi-Fi. If you pair it with an AC Infinity AI controller, you unlock vision-driven automations. These include dimming your lights automatically when the camera detects heat stress, or adjusting devices based on live VPD readings.
Will it fit my grow tent?
Yes. The adjustable dual-joint clamps fit standard tent poles, so it works with tents from most brands, not just AC Infinity.
Does it work on 5GHz Wi-Fi?
No, the Spectron 7 connects on 2.4GHz only. Most home routers broadcast both bands, so you’ll just need to pick the 2.4GHz network during setup.
Will the night vision disturb my plants during lights-off?
No. The Spectron 7 uses 940nm infrared, which plants don’t respond to, so you can check your tent at any time without breaking the dark period.
Can it handle a humid grow tent?
Yes. The housing is IP65 rated, which means it’s dust-tight and protected against water jets. That’s well beyond what normal tent humidity will throw at it.
Do I need a microSD card?
Only for timelapse recording. Live view, still images and AI insights all work without one. A microSD card isn’t included in the box, but they are sold cheaply online.
What does the under-canopy camera actually do?
It sits low in the tent and takes images from beneath the leaves, which is where mould, mildew and pests often start. Those images give the AI more data, so its health alerts and insights are more accurate than a top-down view alone.
Why does thermal imaging matter for VPD?
VPD (vapour pressure deficit) depends on leaf temperature, not just air temperature. Most sensors only measure the air, so their VPD figure is an estimate. The Spectron 7 reads leaf temperature directly, so its VPD reading reflects what your plants are actually experiencing.
Is the Spectron 7 Right for Your Grow?
If you want more than a live feed, the Spectron 7 gives you a full view of your grow. Thermal imaging catches stress early, the under-canopy camera spots problems hiding beneath the leaves, and true VPD readings help you dial in your environment.
