At Green Spirit Horticulture, we’re all about helping people discover the joys of growing their own food—without the confusing jargon! Since 2004, our mission has been to teach amateur growers how to refine their skills, making the world of growing accessible to everyone.
That's why we’re so excited to be partnering with Heeley City Farm, a wonderful community-driven charity that’s making a huge difference right here in Sheffield. Heeley City Farm is not just a farm, it’s a vibrant environmental hub with a farm shop, animals, a garden centre, and a delicious vegan café. And the best part? It’s totally free to visit! Their motto, "Working for the community with the community," truly speaks to their mission.
Green Spirit has always been passionate about supporting local causes, and this month, we had the pleasure of donating 100 x 15-litre plant pots and coir-based growing media to Heeley City Farm to help with their inspiring food-growing projects. We’re thrilled to be part of their peat-free initiative, making sure their growing practices are sustainable and environmentally friendly.
Heeley City Farm has been growing local food organically for over 15 years across more than 20 sites in Sheffield! From schools and community gardens to fire stations and local authority land, they are creating a network of food-growing spaces that involve hundreds of people—young and old—on the journey of growing their own produce. Whether it's through their kitchen garden projects or educational programs, Heeley City Farm is empowering the local community to embrace organic growing techniques and a more sustainable way of life.
