The G.A.S. AirOzone O3 Generator is a professional inline ozone generator designed to provide additional odour control within industrial extraction and ventilation systems. Manufactured in the EU for Global Air Supplies, AirOzone uses specialist corona discharge technology to produce ozone that reacts with odour-causing compounds in extracted air.

How Does the G.A.S. AirOzone Generator Work?

AirOzone uses corona discharge technology to generate ozone, also known as O3, from oxygen present in the air.

Inside the generator, high-voltage corona discharge plates ionise oxygen molecules, allowing ozone to form.

Ozone is a reactive oxidising agent that can interact with certain volatile organic compounds and other odour-causing substances in the extracted airflow.

These oxidation reactions can alter the chemical structure of some compounds, helping reduce their associated odours.

Unlike a carbon filter, which captures certain airborne compounds through adsorption, an ozone generator chemically reacts with susceptible compounds in the passing air.

However, ozone treatment does not guarantee complete removal of every odour or contaminant. Reaction effectiveness depends on ozone concentration, airflow, contact time and the composition of the extracted air.

Important: Ozone can also react with other airborne substances and produce undesirable by-products. AirOzone must be installed and operated only in accordance with the manufacturer's industrial safety instructions.

Designed to Work Alongside Carbon Filtration

The G.A.S. AirOzone is designed to complement an existing extraction and carbon filtration system rather than replace it.

A correctly specified activated carbon filter helps capture odour-causing compounds from the extracted air, while the AirOzone provides an additional ozone treatment stage further along the exhaust system.

For the manufacturer's intended installation, the generator is positioned after both the filter and extraction fan.

The treated airflow must then pass through a minimum of 5 metres of suitable downstream exhaust ducting before being discharged outdoors.

This downstream ducting provides contact time for ozone to react with susceptible odour compounds. It is not a guarantee that all ozone will be consumed or that the discharged air will be free of harmful substances.

Installation Requirements – Industrial Exhaust Systems Only

AirOzone must only be installed by a suitably competent person familiar with industrial ventilation, electrical equipment and ozone exposure hazards.

The manufacturer's required installation arrangement is:

Carbon Filter → Extraction Fan → AirOzone Generator → Minimum 5m Exhaust Ducting → Outdoor Discharge

Essential Installation Requirements

Use only in an appropriate industrial ventilation application.
Match the generator diameter and maximum air capacity to the extraction system.
Install the generator downstream of the extraction fan and carbon filter.
Provide at least 5 metres of suitable exhaust ducting after the generator.
Ensure all connections are securely fitted and sealed.
Ensure extracted air is discharged safely outdoors.
Never discharge ozone-treated air into occupied rooms or enclosed spaces.
Never energise the generator without confirmed airflow through the ducting.
Use suitable electrical safety controls and follow the manufacturer's instructions.
Assess ozone exposure and the suitability of the outdoor discharge location before commissioning.

Warning: The presence of 5 metres of downstream ducting does not automatically establish safe ozone levels. Appropriate risk assessment, engineering controls and exposure verification may be necessary.

Replaceable Corona Discharge Elements

Over time, corona discharge elements can oxidise and their performance may decline.

Rather than replacing the entire generator, the manufacturer offers replacement elements for the different AirOzone sizes.

These replaceable components help extend the service life of the unit when maintained in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions.

Important: The generator contains high-voltage electrical components. Never open, touch or attempt to service internal parts while connected to the power supply. Servicing should be carried out by appropriately qualified personnel.
