Overview
The Blumat Digital is a highly accurate soil moisture sensor that takes the guesswork out of watering. Using professional tensiometer technology, it measures how hard your plants are working to access water in the root zone, giving you clear, reliable data to fine-tune hand watering or irrigation setups. Ideal for large pots, raised beds, and living soil systems where visual checks are not enough.

How It Works
The Blumat Digital measures soil suction power (mbar), indicating how easily roots can access water. Low mbar means wetter soil, high mbar means drier soil. Once installed, it provides stable readings and is best left in the same place for ongoing monitoring.
How to Use

Soak the grey tube and ceramic cone in water for at least 15 minutes.

Use boiled and cooled water to reduce oxygen content.

Fill the tube with water, but do not attach the digital head yet.

Press and hold the On button until “000” or “---” appears while not attached.

Reattach the head, insert into the soil, and wait at least 30 minutes.

Press On to take a reading.

For the most accurate baseline, allow 12 hours after insertion before relying on readings.
Moisture Reading Guide (mbar)
50–80 mbar for establishing young plants
40–70 mbar for early vegetative growth
50–80 mbar for late veg and flowering or fruiting
60–90 mbar for late flowering or fruiting
These ranges are a guide and will vary with plant type, pot size, and environment. Fully saturated soil (field capacity) typically reads around 26 mbar.
Important Notes
High value = dry soil, low value = wet soil
0 mbar equals a fully saturated sensor (ceramic cone in water)
750 mbar equals very dry soil
Keep the digital head dry. For outdoor use or where splash risk exists, use a Blumat Digital Protection Cap.
